From Longevity Hill (Chinese: 万寿山; 萬壽山; pinyin: Wànshòu Shān) there's a great view (if you're here on a clear day ;-) across Beijing and the Summer Palace (颐和园; Yíhéyuán, komoot.de/highlight/141768 ), a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces in China, constructed 1749 to 1764. It serves as a popular tourist destination and recreational park. Mainly dominated by Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake (昆明湖; Kūnmíng Hú, komoot.de/highlight/200238 ), the Summer Palace covers an expanse of 2.9 square km (1.1 sq mi), three-quarters of which is water, entirely man-made,; the excavated soil was used to build 60 metres (200 feet) high Longevity Hill. Its buildings are positioned in sequence: The front hill is rich with splendid halls and pavilions, while the back hill, in sharp contrast, is quiet with natural beauty.
In December 1998, UNESCO included the Summer Palace on its World Heritage List as "a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value".
The design was based on a legend in Chinese mythology about three divine mountains in the East Sea. The centrepiece of the Summer Palace was the "Great Temple of Gratitude and Longevity" (大報恩延壽寺) and the 700m Long Corridor furnished with artistic decorations.
As the Qing Empire declined after the reign of the Daoguang Emperor (r. 1820–1850), the Summer Palace gradually became neglected and the architectural features on the three islands were ordered to be dismantled because the costs of maintenance were too high. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summer_Palace

The New Summer Palace is an imperial palace. It is located in northwest Beijing a few hundred meters west of the ruins of the Old Summer Palace. He is one of the highlights of Chinese garden art, although he was repeatedly destroyed and had to be rebuilt. Today it is one of the big tourist magnets in the Chinese capital and since 1998 UNESCO World Heritage.
So many beauties can hardly be processed in one day and we were in the morning on the Great Wall of China

Summer Palace. The summer residence of the Chinese emperors. Super nice and well-kept facility. Especially in the spring so in late March and early April when the trees are in full bloom.
