Mountain Biking Highlight
On the heap Hoheward in Herten there is an official mountain bike trail network. Information and the route can be found at: landschaftspark-hoheward.de/hoheward/aktiv/mountainbike.html
But not only for this approximately 6.5 km long cross country route worth a trip here. The heap rises more than 100 meters over the surrounding area and the paths are correspondingly steep and the fantastic view from the top over the Ruhr area and the southern Münsterland. On the plateau of the heap is a large sundial and the Hoheward Observatory, which is not visible because of construction defects, however, shortly after the opening.
On the direct neighboring pile Hoppenbruch the Enduro riders are on the way.

The newly opened since some time MTB track at the dump Hoheward
is really fun. Whether downhill (down) or uphill (high), every section
very well considered and created. In a full round you come to about 6 km and 170 hm. Also some small ski jumps are installed

Definitely worth a visit. Although the observatory is nuclear waste, the view from the dump is overwhelming - if you can plan the visit so that the weather services predict a 100km + view. Balcony promenade, promenade bridge, sky rises, summit plateau and sundial should be seen.
