Due to its multiple uses, the 52.8 hectare lake is one of the most important lakes in the Villeseenplatte. It offers a large number of sports and recreational opportunities. In addition to the forest and hiking trails that surround it, the water area is also used intensively. There are four interest groups in total: swimmers, the Liblar fishing club, the Ville sailing club and, for canoeists, the Liblar water sports enthusiasts. On the north shore of the lake there is an outdoor swimming pool, which is only open in the summer months, and a year-round camping site. The lake is a popular attraction for visitors from Cologne and the Rhein-Erft district, especially in summer.
