Water bubbles with cheerful sounds from the bronze figure's transverse flute into a brick basin. Behind it, as part of the city's redevelopment, a farmstead built onto the city wall was converted into pretty new half-timbered apartments.

Hiking

The fountain was donated by the Kraus family's descendants. It is in memory of the German-Swedish composer Joseph Martin Kraus, who grew up in Buchen. I visited this graceful and elegant fountain on a sunny day in May. The sunlight, filtered from the canopy, gave everything a green tinge, a nice moment in the cool, cool shade of the trees, plus the gently splashing water from the openings of the flute - all in all, there was a mood that I like to remember.
