The memorial is located in the Gevelsberger Stadtwald and consists of a rectangular column of about 12-15m high with a vertical lettering: UNVERGESSE N. The pillar is supported by wings at the side attached wall plaques of the former Ennepe office (...) In the entrance area, a plaque with an inscription for the dead of the Second World War was erected Design: Hans Erwin Nau, site supervision: Peter and Emil Nau, architects.The panels are alphabetically labeled with the fallen per war year. Very imposing monument, somehow also depressing, I cannot describe what goes through my head when one is symbolically reminded of what a tragedy a war is and how many human sacrifices it demands. Anyone hiking around Gevelsberg should definitely visit this quiet place of mourning.
