    Hiking

    The alpine edelweiss
is a hibernating green, [1] perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 5 to over 20 centimeters. The above-ground parts of the plant are woolly, white-felt, with the narrow, lanceolate, approximately 5 cm long leaves that are particularly hairy on the underside. The leaves stand together in a basal rosette.

The flowering period extends from July to September. Five to fifteen shiny white bracts form a multi-pointed star and surround the actual inflorescence.
