Marina di Pisa is located at the mouth of the Arno river in the Tyrrhenian Sea; this is why it is also called Bocca d'Arno. It is about ten km far from Pisa, at the end of a long tree-lined avenue along the left bank of the river. South of Marina di Pisa, there is Tirrenia, a holiday resort famous for its vast pine forest and long sandy beaches.

Cyclists who want to reach Livorno from Pisa should preferably pass by Marina di Pisa and Tirrenia, using the frequent stretches of cycle paths, instead of riding along the state road # 1 (Aurelia), which is very busy and dangerous.
