You can walk all the way from Elmshorn to Kollmar on the dike. However, this is quite difficult to go and is an adventure. We had to fight our way through tall grass and holes in the ground, walk past cattle and sheep and climb over the gate. Alternatively, there is a well-developed bike path or a small street that runs next to the dike. Then you have to do without the wonderful view.

Beautiful grassy crest of the dyke, from where you have a view of the countryside, but also of the cute houses that partially line the dyke. However, you have to climb over many fences and gates if you want to continue walking the entire time from Elmshorn to the Elbe on the crest of the dyke.

Just hike over the dike towards Kollmar is a nice thing. you have to climb gates from time to time or go down and back up the dike because a step separates the dike.
