The Etzel Chapel, built in 1698 based on the model of the Chapel of Grace of that time, stands on the spot where St. Meinrad stayed as a hermit for a few years before retreating further into the “Dark Forest”. The chapel is suitable for quiet contemplation and church services for smaller groups.

The baroque ensemble on the Etzel Pass also includes the St. Meinrad restaurant with its sunny terrace and cozy dining room. Pilgrims on the way to Einsiedeln and Santiago, walkers and hikers from both sides of the pass enjoy refreshments, excellent cuisine and wines from the monastery cellar here.
