The Slawenburg Raddusch is an externally largely faithful replica of a Slavic refugee castle. The castle is one of around 40 ring-shaped ramparts originally existing in Lower Lusatia. These castles were built in the 9th and 10th centuries by the Slavic tribe of the Lusitzi. They served as refuges for the population living in the immediate vicinity.
