The story goes that the Miekoeksebrug owes its name to Mietje Koek who moved to Oirschot with her parents from the east of the country. During the construction of the Wilhelmina Canal, Mietje lived nearby and occasionally served a cup of coffee or a drink for passers-by.
It is a so-called Bailey bridge, designed by the British Donald Bailey, who worked as a civilian for the British Ministry of Defense.
