During and due to the corona pandemic, the border, which had not been perceived as such for a long time, was now temporarily closed or only passable to a limited extent.
In this context, a very unfortunate and therefore justifiably controversial incident on this bridge in May 2020 was a very urgent reminder that European unification cannot be taken for granted.
Every "European" should take care that we do not jeopardize this wonderful achievement lightly!
