Münchenwiler Castle - not far from the historic town of Murten - is located in the middle of a spacious park.
History: In 1081 the entire property was bequeathed to the Cluny monastery, because of sins, as the deed of donation states. Cluny built a priory on it. In 1943, the canton of Bern bought back the dilapidated castle and used it as a military accommodation and training facility. From the 1980s, the castle was renovated and later became the Parkhotel. However, the castle still belongs to the Canton of Bern.
