In the vicinity of the current border between the municipalities of Berceto and Borgo Val di Taro and near the border with Pontremoli and between the regions of Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, there is a sixteenth-century stone cippus, with the coat of arms engraved (it is assumed) dei Fieschi or dei Rossi and also an indefinite writing, now hardly visible due to the wear of time.

In the past it was certainly a reference of great importance, being the sign of the separation limit between the territories mentioned, but now its fame is linked solely to the alleged "news" of a bloody event that occurred in the first half of the nineteenth century. More likely (perhaps) the Term of the Cat takes its name from the engraved symbol that seems to be that of the Reds and that is a rampant lion (somewhat resembling a cat) ...
