The Teufelssee lies in the forest between Beelitz, Seddin and Neuseddin. This lake is approximately 4.8 hectares in size and between 2.5 and 4 m deep. The lake lies in the high forest with adjacent forest bogs, which are also called fen. The name of the lake has nothing to do with the devil. Local researcher Dieter Mehlhardt attributes the word “devil” to the Slavic “dupel” or “dowel”, which means “far from the place”. The Wends referred to a hidden pond.

Hiking

A great lake! The best way to get there is on foot from Seddin or Beelitz. Many paths are not so easy to cycle by bike. A bath break is very refreshing and also possible naked. Please don't leave any rubbish behind!
