Gut Gasteil was run from 1920 to 1924 by the Viennese lawyer Dr. Max Silberberg built according to plans by architect Hubert Gessner. In 1988, the artist couple Charlotte and Johannes Seidl took over the property from Jutta Jary.

The Seidls, both freelance sculptors, have developed Gut Gasteil into a place of art since 1989. Four exhibitions of contemporary art take place in the gallery every year, and the large exhibition series “Art in the Landscape” is organized every two years: international visual artists are invited to realize their special ideas for this place on the 16 hectares of meadows around Gut Gasteil. The result is always a symbiosis of art and nature that is worth seeing, an exhibition that can be explored, a multi-layered experience.
