For some time now there has been a sundial in Wennigsen (Deister). The time monument was created on the occasion of the 80th birthday and 25 years of activity with sundials by the master mechanic Erich Pollähne. All metal parts of the structure are made of stainless steel, the drawings are etched and black chrome-plated, the basalt stones have a very long lifespan. The sundial consists of a base plate that shows a cross shape as a cover plate. It is the drawing of the stone engraving from Bornholm with the sixteen-part calendar of the Teutons. The footplate is equipped with a stainless steel frame. This frame carries 18 images from time measurement and astronomy to the present day with moon landing, the "small step" by Neil Armstrong. The cover plate of the sundial base focuses on the view of the earth with the southern hemisphere fanned out. The platonic cube (south face) shows the master clock. The horizontal clock is arranged on the cube (top). It shows the Babylonian and Italian hours. The equatorial clock made of acrylic glass, like the south foot of the cube, is also parallel to the roof. The reading of normal and summer time in CET is possible here.

The time monument shows a total of 14 sundials, which are largely arranged around a Platonic solid (cube). They make it possible to read the time with different levels of precision with more or less effort.

The main clock is the south clock on the south side of the cube. Its shadow rod is attached parallel to the earth's roof and allows the time to be read "accurately to the minute".

Minute accuracy can also be obtained when reading the east, west and north clocks, mainly during the off-peak times of the day. However, the readings here are often disturbed by the surrounding vegetation.

Only a small glimpse of the noon clock, which shows when the sun is due south at the location of the time monument, can be seen on the south side of the cube. The majority is hidden in the cube. Reading is possible through a window on the north side.

At the top of the time monument there is an equatorial clock, which also allows reading to the minute.

The time can be read with less accuracy on the other sundials.

The main clocks show both winter time (digits with double circles) and summer time (digits with single circles).

You first have to understand how the thing works.
