Hiking

The Tannburg was a fortification of the knight Hermann Stranz von Döllstädt. Their time of construction, use and destruction is directly related to the Thuringian-Hessian War of Succession (1247–1263). The castle site is now a protected ground monument.

The ruins of the castle can only be guessed at, the upstream refuge invites you to linger.
