A little away from the B 71, houses and courtyards are clustered around the village church of Berge. In front of the church, a linden tree over 800 years old provides shade. In the church you can expect extraordinary ceiling paintings on the barrel vault. At the beginning of the 17th century, an unknown artist created the ceiling paintings based on the Sistine Chapel in Rome. That is why the little church bears the nickname "Sistine Chapel of the Altmark."The door to the church is usually open during the day. There are bicycle racks in front of the entrance, a resting place in the shade of the linden tree and WiFi.A metal stele in front of the church also shows mountains as station 2/95 on the Reformation cycle path through the Altmark.

You are welcomed at the gate by a very old linden tree with an imposing trunk. A beautifully designed bed then leads to the chapel entrance. Inside, the chapel impresses with lots of wood and especially with the painted ceiling.
