Viktor Kaplan (1876-1934) was an Austrian engineer. He was interested in the use of hydropower. The first Kaplan turbine went into operation in 1919.
In 1920 Kaplan acquired the Rochuspoint manor in Unterach. Here he lived until his death in 1934.
The pavilion with 12 display boards provides information about Viktor Kaplan's life, the Kaplan turbine, Kaplan's companions, history and the boom in hydropower use, etc. The pavilion is part of the Viktor Kaplan theme trail with eleven other stations. The circular route runs between Attersee and Mondsee.
