Since its full opening in May 2017, the Lutherweg 1521 has been a 400-kilometer-long pilgrimage/long-distance hiking trail from Worms in Rhineland-Palatinate through Hesse to the Wartburg near Eisenach in Thuringia.

The Luther Trail 1521 recreates the route that Martin Luther took 500 years ago from the Reichstag in Worms to the Wartburg near Eisenach.

Luther's journey began on April 2, 1521.

It most likely took him along the old trade routes from Worms to Frankfurt and from there on the historic route through the short Hesse.

In a narrow corridor, the modern pilgrimage and hiking trail Lutherweg 1521 is based on these streets and paths from Luther's time.
