The trail is part of the Trans Canada Trail and partly leads through almost untouched nature. Cyclists should stock up on provisions accordingly and be able to remedy any breakdowns on the bike themselves. The nature trail is mostly easy to drive, with heavy rain there are muddy passages. There is no mobile network between Victoria and Lake Cowichan (June 2017).
