De Roosdonck is a round stone mill built in 1884. The mill was used as a flour mill and from 1887 to 1930 also as an oil mill. Production stopped in 1959 and the mill is now privately owned, maintained by the Friends of the Roosdonck Foundation. The De Groot family farm was close to the mill. Vincent made a painting of that farm.

De Roosdonck Mill is a beautiful grain mill dating from 1884 and one of the iconic landmarks in the Nuenen landscape. Vincent van Gogh painted this mill several times during his Nuenen period, making it even more famous. The mill stands on a slight rise and contrasts beautifully with the surrounding open fields—a perfect spot to stop for a photo, especially in bright light. De Roosdonck still turns regularly and is clearly visible from the surrounding footpaths.
