The Diaccia Botrona Nature Reserve, spread over 1,273 hectares between Castiglione della Pescaia and Grosseto, represents the last vestige of the Castiglione Marshes, subjected to reclamation works by the Lorraine family in the eighteenth century. Classified as a "wetland of international importance" according to the Ramsar Convention, it is a key area for Tuscan birdlife.

Towards Castiglione della Pescaia there is the building called Casa Rossa, dedicated to Leonardo Ximenes, engineer who made a decisive contribution to the reclamation of the Maremma plain previously occupied by the so-called Lago Prile, whose Roman remains consist of the so-called Badia al Fango also known as Isola Clodia.
