The wooden bridge near Essing is a strap bridge that leads pedestrians and cyclists across the Main-Danube Canal at Essing near Kelheim. Built after seven years of planning in 1986, the bridge was at 189.91 meters the longest wooden bridge in Europe, until it was replaced in 2006 by the dragon tail in Ronneburg.

The wooden bridge over the Altmühl (Main-Danube Canal) in Essing, at 193 m, is one of the longest wooden bridge constructions in Europe.
And I think also very impressive.

Great wooden construction ... a must for all cyclists. Everyone has to cross the bridge once and be impressed by this achievement.

The use of glued laminated timber as a tension band is a special feature of the bridge, which is locally known as Tatzelwurm.

Absolutely exciting design. The bridge blends in with the landscape, which you can not claim from any bridge

The Tatzelwurm at Essing is already a special attraction, a strap bridge over which pedestrians and cyclists can cross.

Is already impressive how the bridge nestles in the landscape and at the same time is suitable for shipping.
