The residents of Ketteldorf were originally cared for by St. Maria (Großhaslach). Around 1200 the Heilsbronn Monastery built a chapel there. The service was provided by Heilsbronn monks living in Ketteldorf. This led to a conflict with the pastor of Großhaslach. In 1300 the monastery also acquired the parish patronage in Großhaslach. Ketteldorf became a branch of St. Maria and from then on the service was provided by the Großhaslach pastor
