Remains of a Bronze and Iron Age settlement (around 1000 BC) were discovered on Bühler Strasse. At the excavations on the Esbachhöhe the finds were much larger, which indicate an extensive village settlement of the linear band ceramic culture (about 5200-5000 BC). The members of this Neolithic culture were the earliest farmers and ranchers in Central Europe. They replaced the previously widespread lifestyle of hunters and gatherers.
