In the foreground you can see the salt structures that make up the East Westphalian hilly landscape: in the east the Große and Kleine Fallstein, ahead of the Harly and on the western edge the elongated Salzgitter ridge. Behind it you can see the Harz low mountain range rising steeply on the northern edge, the rocks of which have been moved more than 1000 m upwards compared to the northern foreland. With its flat granite dome, the Brocken towers over the entire landscape as a landmark that can be seen from afar. The village of Werlaburgdorf can be seen in the foreground, behind it the site of the former Kaiserpfalz Werta, as well as the A391 and Gielde with the castle hill.
