he history of Schloss Dagstuhl begins in 1760 when the then ruling Count Anton von Öttingen-Soetern-Hohenbaldern had a princely family seat built at the foot of the old Dagstuhl castle.

Half a century later, after the revolutionary troops drove the count's family out and the French state leased the lands to an ironworks in Lorraine, Baron Wilhelm de Lasalle von Louisenthal acquired the castle, which quickly became the social and cultural center of the region becomes. Octavie de Lasalle von Louisenthal was born in 1811 and later became famous as the "painter countess". Today you can still admire its well-preserved wall and altar paintings and the cycle of pictures of a Way of the Cross in the palace chapel.

In 1959 the last representative of the Lasalle von Louisenthal family left the castle. Francis' sisters took over the property in 1957 and converted it into an old people's home.
