In 1196 the castle Lichtenberg was first mentioned in documents. The oldest component is the keep. The plant is in a very good condition. Not for nothing is the Lichtenberg Castle one of the oldest, completely preserved Hohenstaufen castle north of the Alps. Be sure to check out the chapel next to the gate with its pretty wall paintings. The gates of the castle are open from April to October every Sunday from 11am to 6pm. The entrance fee is 3 euros.

The Stauferburg from the period around 1200 is surprisingly well preserved. From April to November it can be visited on Sundays. Hiked from the north and west directions expected a very steep increase, but worth it.

Nice castle surrounded by vineyards. Visits are possible after registration. Great view of the Bottwartal, large parking lot available.

The castle is currently a construction site. (May 2020) The view of the valley is great from here.
