Mapperley Wood Nature Reserve contains some of Derbyshire’s most vulnerable habitats, including mature oak woodland, wetland and a small area of acid grassland. Footpaths explore the reserve, affording the opportunity to admire birds such as coot, moorhen, mallard and kingfisher. In spring the woodland is carpeted with bluebells.
