Col which at an altitude of 1489 m, not far from the Pic du Midi and the Col du Tourmalet. Splendid view

Culminating at 1,489 meters above sea level, the Col d'Aspin is a classic of the Tour de France. Its ascent from Arreau is magnificent. Via a few bends, it winds for 12 kilometers at an average 6.5% with a few passages at 10%.

It is also possible to climb it from Sainte-Marie-de-Campan. The climb is 12.5 kilometers at an average gradient of 5.1%.

If you want to choose the easier option, you can drive the Col d'Aspin from Ste. Marie de Campan. If you prefer the scenic variant that is a little more beautiful, you can start in Arreau. Both climbs are doable, scenically impressive and definitely worth climbing. Those who leave for Arreau should stay focused until the end. The last curves are difficult to see and "close up", as the saying goes.
