The keep, popularly known as white turnip or sauerkraut barrel, is the oldest building of Veste Otzberg. The round brick 17 m high tower has a diameter of 10 m below, at a height of around 2 m it tapers to 9.6 m. At a height of 15.5 m there is an all-round cantilever made of sandstone to keep rainwater running away from the tower. On beautiful days you can look out over the entire Darmstadt-Dieburg district to Frankfurt am Main and the Taunus from the 15.9 m high viewing platform of the Weißen Rübe.

Unfortunately, the festivals and the museum cannot be visited at the moment. Only the tower is open now and then.
