The Fichtenhain Campus is a 74,500 m² area in the south of the city of Krefeld. It was designed around 1905 as the first “Rhineland Provincial Welfare Education Institution” for boys who were difficult to educate. At the beginning of the 20th century, girls and boys were raised separately. The institution was divided into three parts: the actual educational institution, the main estate and the Höffgeshof farm. The former consisted of the administration building, the pupils' houses A to D, a cooking kitchen with a banquet hall, a laundry room with bathing facilities, a workshop building, a boiler and machine house, a gatekeeper's house and a hospital. The laundry room building was not only a kind of launderette from the imperial era, but also included a small swimming pool.
Today it is a commercial location that is primarily used by creative service providers.
