Rennsteig Trailhead at Hörschel

A parallel marking of the alternative bike route always accompanies the original hiking path through the wonderful nature of the Thuringian Forest.

The route from Eisenach's Hörschel an der Werra district to Blankenstein an der Saale is around 195 kilometers long. The stage can be done in three days and is very well signposted. The hiking trail is technically more demanding and can also be driven, but with respect for hikers.

Joerg's tip is important to take a stone from the Werra fountain at the beginning of the tour and to throw it into the Selbitz at the end of the tour.

Don't forget to get the stone out of the Werra before you plan to cross the Rennsteig.

If you want to be precise, you have to go through a courtyard (public) up to 2 meters in front of the Werra. There is the official start.
