In the mill, which was mentioned for the first time in 1799, a coffee substitute (mocca faux or Germanized Muckefuck) was produced from the chicory. In 1859 the mill, meanwhile a roofing felt factory, was provided with a battlement. Later it served as a tower house for the employees of the municipal gas company until 2000. Today it is a restaurant.

The "Kniehauer chic chicory" mentioned for the first time in 1799 is the last remaining mill in the Berlin suburb. In order to gain a monopoly on coffee consumption in Prussia, coffee substitutes, so-called mocha faux or Germanized muckefuck, were produced from the roots of the Wegwarte (chicory). Operation ceased in 1813, and an illustration from 1838 shows it without wings.
