Kurrebo was built around 1900. The officer David Klingspor had a house built there. His comrades called him “Kurre”. This explains the name of the place (“bo” = to live).Klingspor planted 3,000 fruit trees and began to breed new varieties. He was successful. Its apple orchards became famous all over Sweden. Up until a few years ago, over 40,000 crocuses, tulips, daffodils and, last but not least, many apple trees bloomed here in spring. In summer there were tons of summer flowers. And in autumn you could enjoy the sight of over 1,000 dahlias until the first frost came.A company from Tingsryd, Nelson Garden, tested their range of flower seeds and bulbs out here in Småland. There was also a café and a small bed and breakfast on the Kurrebo site.Kurrebo belongs to the municipality of Tingsryd. The facility is managed by a foundation. Unfortunately, the complex is for sale and it is unclear how this fantastic course will continue. The community said that the cultural and historical value should be preserved. We do not know what that means in concrete terms. Since the whole area is a national park, we cannot imagine that Tingsryd will let this place go to waste. As a safety precaution, ask the tourist information at Åsnen before heading to Kurrebo.Nobody can take away the great view there. In this respect, a visit should also be worthwhile when the café is closed. There is also a local history museum up here.Right next to Kurrebo is the Lunnabacken nature reserve with a hiking trail that partly runs along the banks of Åsnen. There are also beech forests in the nature reserve.Source: schwedentipps.se/smaland/kurrebo

Kurrebo-Lunnabacken is one of the most beautiful places in Sweden. Nature reserve and viewpoint Lunnabacken from which you have a wonderful panoramic view of the Åsnen. Kurrebo offers a beautiful flower garden and apple orchards. By bike or on foot you can explore the area and its nature. Nearby is the bathing and camping Kärrasand

Unfortunately, the flower garden in Kurrebo is not maintained at the moment. But today I have seen a craftsman car at the house, so hopefully soon there will be again the beautiful gardens of the past to admire.
Lunnabacken is still worth a visit with the beautiful old houses and the wonderful view over the lake Åsnen
