Last leg! Today I reach Grenoble!
Unfortunately, there's only the main road (luckily with bike lanes), and I find few options for avoiding them. Trucks, motorcycles, and cars race past me!
And as if to say goodbye, the middle gear of the gearshift bends while shifting, preventing the chain from running

Col de la Croix de Fer!
If I've conquered that, I'll have reached all the peaks of my tour.
Once again, I'm lugging liters of food and drink through the mountains! Better safe than sorry – and hunger on the climb is more tormenting than any meter of elevation in my legs!
The goal is driving me on today

This day will be the most eventful of the entire tour:
Waking up in the morning at my secluded spot at the ruins of the old fort with a magnificent view over Lac du Mont Cenis. I see several marmots—or at least their fluffy butts as they run away from me 😄
After breakfast, I circle the lake.
Climb to the

Today, I'm going to climb Lac du Mont Cenis: I have the greatest respect for this section: 1870 meters of elevation.
First, a quick visit to the small town of Susa. Then it's uphill! I ride along the old pass road; there's hardly any traffic here, just heavenly peace and quiet. The path leads through

It's finally starting: My Trans-Alp tour begins!
I wonder what it will be like?!
I've been thinking about this trip for two years!
First, I make a short stop at the Parco de Europa above Turin. There's a great view of the city, only the mountains disappear into the haze.
I quickly cycle past the city's highlights

Today is going to be tough; the 3,000 meters of elevation gain from the last two days are still in my bones!
Surprise of the day: The route to Albiez le Vieux is closed, so I'm rescheduling!
My legs are aching and my bags are heavy! Besides, instead of stunning mountain views, today there are only trees
