La Roche-en-Ardenne is called the pearl of the Ardennes. Its castle, its narrow streets, its numerous squares on the banks of the Ourthe explain this success.
The very popular Place du Bronze and the Place du Marché are worth a visit in themselves. You can have a coffee or a meal there.
The Col d'Haussire, located two pedal strokes from the town, is considered one of the most difficult passes in Belgium.

La Roche-en-Ardenne in the valley of the cheerfully meandering Ourthe is considered the pearl of the Ardennes. At the foot of the gloomy castle ruins, narrow streets run through the charming old town, located within two river bends. Eye-catchers are the leaning tower on the market square and two tanks from the American and British armies in a square on the banks of the Ourthe, which are intended to commemorate the liberation from the National Socialists in 1944.
The best place to enjoy a coffee, refreshment or a meal is in the restaurants and cafés on the lively Place du Bronze or the Place du Marché, La Roche's promenade and shopping mile.
For racing cyclists, the town is something like the Andermatt of the Ardennes, as there are a whole series of attractive climbs leading out of the narrow valley. The Col d'Haussire, with its ramp from the church of St. Nicolas past the cemetery and wildlife park of La Roche, is the hardest climb in Belgium. There is even a passport sign at the top.
