The pier in Ahlbeck is 280 meters long and the oldest in Germany. There is a restaurant on the platform where you can eat with the best sea view. Heinrich Lohse and Renate Lohse alias Loriot and Evelyn Hamann also dined on the pier in the comedy "Pappa ante portas".

The only original preserved pier of the Baltic Sea. The interior must be seen. Very impressive! In the summer you should make a reservation for dinner but a table. Although we have reserved a table for dinner in the spring, but only because we wanted to have a good view in the front row. In principle, you always get a place in spring.

Ahlbeck Seeheilbad is located directly on the border with Poland and the Polish seaside resort of Swinoujscie. It is one of the three imperial baths that have been merged administratively into the municipality of Heringsdorf since 2006.
Especially along the dune road you will find a number of remarkable villas in the style of the spa architecture, which have been extensively renovated as part of urban development. In addition, numerous hotels, restaurants and inns invite you to linger.
In addition to summer bathing fun on the wide, fine sandy beach, a visit to the Baltic Sea thermal bath is also worthwhile all year round. Also worth seeing and experiencing is a visit to old Ahlbeck with its thatched fishermen's cottages. Here is also the oldest house in the village, which now houses a gallery.
The promenade is also really colorful and lively for the Ahlbeck summer festival or for concerts in the music pavilion. From the pier you can also set sail for passenger ships and take trips to the Oder delta or to Swinoujscie.

Since 1898, the pier is the eye-catcher on the beach of Ahlbeck:
The bridge, which is 280 meters long today, was built more than 100 years ago as an extension of the wooden platform and was designed to provide berths for ships with its 170 meter long pier. However, it quickly became a popular walking route, as small and large discovered over the decades more and more the joy of the feeling of "going over the water".
In the severe winter of 1941/1942, ice drift and storm surge destroyed the jetty, which was not to be rebuilt until the early 1990s. In the 1970s and '80s, the bridge was extensively refurbished, taking into account the preservation of its historic fabric.
Also, the bridge building, where a restaurant invites to culinary delights, is preserved after modernization measures in 1997, largely true to the original. - Hardly surprising that countless professional and amateur photographers have captured this piece of history! In fact, the historic pier of Ahlbeck is one of the most photographed motifs on the island.
At the end of 2016, thanks to a number of refurbishments, the bridge has regained its original look: with its red roof and green turrets, the pier building now has a touch of nostalgic flair that makes tourists and locals alike feel at home.
At the beginning of 2017, the interior renovation of the oldest German pier, which has been a listed building since 1986, began.
