The prince-bishop's hunting lodge is a real gem, hidden deep inside the Wolbeck zoo. This has existed for hundreds of years and is one of the oldest forest areas in the Münsterland. It was once used by Münster's prince-bishops as a hunting ground.
The forest was given its current shape around 1740 by Prince-Bishop Clemens August I of Bavaria, who is said to have been a passionate hunter. After secularization, the zoo also fell into Prussian ownership in 1803. A part of the forest, which is home to kingfisher, bat and fire salamander, is now designated as a scientific “natural forest cell” and is left to its own devices.

Idyllically located prince-bishop's hunting lodge. The coat of arms of the Prince-Bishop with the year 1702 is located above the main entrance.
The listed building is now privately owned.

Further interesting information can be found on the information boards in front of the building.
