Hiking Highlight (Segment)
We hiked the Wutachschlucht from the Wutachmühle to the Schattenmühle (about 13 kilometers). Good footwear and sure-footedness are recommended. Some passages are quite narrow, stony and slippery. Walking sticks are more of a hindrance here. You can take the hiking bus to the shadow mill at the Wutachmühle or vice versa. An overwhelming hike.

The Wutach and its tributaries form an overwhelming primal landscape with romantic gorges and unspoilt forests. An unforgettable experience for every hiker.

The Wutachschlucht is considered one of the most beautiful hikes in Germany. Biologists, geologists, nature romantics - everyone gets their taste. If you are looking for solitude, you will find it only in the early morning and late evening hours, the Southern Black Forest Nature Park is a popular hiking area. There are always refreshments and nicely laid out rest areas.

The source brooks of the Wutach, "the angry Ach", come from the eastern slope of the Feldberg. On the hike through the gorge you can see different layers of rock and admire the diversity of botany. An Eldorado for the many birds and over 500 species of butterflies you can look for on your hike.

Here you can see quite well the boulder that has fallen down into the Wutach. The old path is blocked - 2 wooden walkways lead around the mighty boulder.

The Wutach Gorge offers an unforgettable hiking experience for young and old. It is located in the heart of Germany's largest nature park - in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park. It is not for nothing that the Wutach Gorge is called the largest canyon in Germany. Because during the tour through the 60 to 170 meter deep gorge, we come across rushing waterfalls, rugged valleys, adventurous wild rivers and encounter the diverse flora and fauna.

In May, in the Wutachschlucht after heavy rainfall was a large landslide at Bad Boll.
The way along there is closed.
The gorge was also closed last year, from the Gauchachmündung direction Schattenmühle. You have to make a big detour towards Bachheim. This is actually the most beautiful part not to hike. A woman did not believe it and got stuck in the mud.
Whether the gorge is ever cleared, remains there.
Of course, we have already twice the ravine wandered through. we were always excited

The well-known Wutachschlucht, an impressive natural spectacle. A tributary that flows under the rocks into the Wutach.

Very beautiful gorge which is pleasant to walk through. In the hot outside temperatures a cool amenity. The parking lot next to the kiosk is not very big and occupied early in the morning. A journey by bus is also possible. 😀

Necessary bypass, as the original path through a landslide is impassable.

As part of the Schluchtensteig, the Wutachklamm is definitely worth a trip. Was pleasantly cool with summer outside temperatures over 30 degrees. 😅

We hiked the Gauchach Gorge. There is a circular walk. Beautiful. The next day we went over the Lotenbachklamm in the Wutachschlucht. That was worth it!!! Then hiked to Wutachmühle.

Super nice hike. In combination with a hiking bus on the weekend also as a one-way commit.
The tour is especially recommended for warm days.
Attention: good footwear is required. The gorge is dangerous in wet weather. Ideal to commit after a week without rain. All warnings are to be observed and followed.
Under wutachschlucht.de there is daily updated information about the situation in and around the gorge.

The Wutach seeped in the area of the Muschelkalkschlucht (from the Amselfelsen) on a stretch of over a kilometer.
In the summer months, the Wutach can superficially fall completely dry. In the process, the seeped water continues to flow in an underground system of caves and voids until it returns to the river bed at the boundary between the middle and lower shell limestone
arrives. This is very visible due to the lateral inflows.

The place in the riverbed with a view of the rocks is really one of the nicest resting places of the Schluchtensteig. Here you should really take a few minutes and let the beauty of nature work on you.

At the Wutach you can walk very nicely. I recently walked at Schattenmühle about 9km along the Wutach and then back again. Was very nice.

One parks at the shadow mill, large parking lot opposite. from the roadhouse. Then the way is signposted. We went (two 5-year-olds and me) a piece, 2 hours and 2.5 hours back. Can only recommend.
