It is a blessing for many people in the district that the Dockstrasse as a "green Dockstrasse" offers pedestrians and cyclists the opportunity to move across the district away from motorized traffic. Originally, however, there were completely different plans for Dockstrasse. In May 1949, the WESER-KURIER reported that Dockstrasse should later be laid out as a large street. In the end, however, it remained closed to motor vehicles. When planning for Hafenrandstrasse from the late 1960s, Dockstrasse was discussed as part of the four-lane connecting road. However, those responsible finally decided to expand the shipyard street instead of the dock street. And in April 1977, after years of back and forth, a group of architects suggested that Dockstrasse between Lindenhofstrasse and Pastorenweg be converted into a local recreation area.
