    The remnants of what was once a huge industrial site which stood on this beach. Check the tide times when visiting this structure as it looks its best when it's​ farthest out.

    The pier was built in the 1960's to provide a source of fresh sea water to the nearby Magnesia plant.
    The plant closed in the early 2000's and fell into disrepair. The council removed the land end of the pier to prevent people climbing out along it.

    Cycling

    Jutting out from Hartlepool's headland, this dilapidated pier once played an important role in the steel industry in the area. The pier was part of a magnesite plant, producing over 100,000 tonnes a year. Although much of the former plant has been demolished, you can still see the pier which is used by local fishermen.
