The Canons' Monastery, founded by Vicelin in Neumünster in 1125, moved to Bordesholm in 1330. The canons made an island in the Bordesholmer lake land-proof through three dams and built a church and monastery on it.

Beautiful church with the Lindenplatz in front of it. There is, unfortunately no longer in the best condition, the Bordesholmer landmark the lime tree

Around 1330 monks laid the foundation stone for the construction of the monastery church and the monastery building near Neumünster. At the time, the monastery was still in Neumünster - however, three dams on the island ensured that the monks could start building on the piece of land.
Today only the monastery church is left of the building. The remaining monastery buildings were demolished.
