The Teufelsbrücken are the former entrance to the centuries-old council quarries in Chemnitz. From 1610, the porphyry tuff of the quarry was used to create the tulip pulpit of Freiberg Cathedral, as well as the portal and cloister of the Chemnitz Castle Church.
