The so-called “Guardian Tower” was built between 1242 and 1260. The defensive tower is a protected architectural monument.
The three-story tower with a square floor plan is one of three remaining towers in the Hammelburg city fortifications. The upper tower floors were built in half-timbered construction. The tower serves as the headquarters of the Boy Scouts.
