The Steinfeld cross chapel was first built at this location around 1665, in honor of a crucifix from the time around 1600, which was much respected in Steinfeld. Its name corresponds to its dedication and if you take a look inside, you will see an ornate cross in the middle of the main altar.
First the crucifix and then the chapel attracted believers from far and wide. The current building dates from 1702 after the first chapel became too small.
