In summer there are far too many mosquitoes!

Beautiful and interesting nature reserve. The Weingartener Moor nature reserve and wet biotope is one of the last semi-natural remaining areas of the Kinzig-Murg channel, a former river valley on the eastern edge of the Upper Rhine Graben. It is a fen with open water areas, surrounded by extensive swampy forest. Therefore, one finds an occurrence of a species-rich animal world here. The bird life of the protected area is particularly diverse. The bog is also an important spawning ground for 14 native amphibian species.

the moor is great. You get the most out of it when there are no leaves on the trees and there has been enough rainfall. In the summer there is sometimes no sign of the moor.

          Nice through the forest

After the rivers Kinzig and Murg broke through into the Rhine around 7,000 years ago, the former river bed swamped and moor areas formed, including the Weingartener Moor. The moor partially has a very high groundwater table[2]. It was declared a nature reserve on October 11, 1940 because the area was endangered by peat extraction.[3] The surrounding Bruchwald and part of the Grötzinger quarry pond followed on July 27, 1984.[4] (Wikipedia)

You shouldn't descend in summer either. Unless you want to feed the mosquitoes.
But seriously: a very nice nature reserve.

Very original area, now and then a lake for swimming

The moor is always a highlite.

Great network of trails. It's a lot cooler during the summer, so it's a nice place to escape the heat.

A few hundred years ago the whole area was like this.
