Both banks of the Stekense Vaart or the Kanaal van Stekene are recognized as a quiet area. Here you can enjoy a landscape with exceptionally beautiful views. The Vaart was dug in 1315. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the canal was an important economic artery in the region. The waterway played an important role in the transport of bricks and tiles. These were manufactured in the numerous brick and tile factories that this region was rich in.
